For this assignment I had to write at least a 200 word story about this picture.
The
Treasure Hunt
By
Keturah Dear
Once upon a time there lived two boys named
Jeff and John. It was a sunny day and
Jeff was with his friend John. Jeff
said, “Let’s go for a treasure hunt.”
Then John asked, “What about school?”
“Mom
and Dad will take care of that, John.”
Jeff told him.
“Hey,
Mom! Can me and Jeff start our treasure hunt today?” asked Jeff.
“Sure
but where are you going to?” asked Jeff’s mom.
Jeff answered, “I don’t know, Mom.”
“What
are you bringing with you?” asked Jeff’s mom.
“I
am bringing water, food, clothes, a blanket, and books, Mom.”
“But
when are you going?” she asked Jeff.
“Today,
Mom!” yelled Jeff. He was frustrated because she didn’t hear him before.
Jeff’s
mom gave the boys permission to go.
“Well
we can go today,” said Jeff. “Let’s go pack John!”
“OK,
Jeff. I’m coming,” John replied.
The boys started their trip. They got in a boat to go to the island in the
middle of the lake.
“Hey,
John! Isn’t this a nice trip”
asked Jeff after they had been traveling on the little fishing boat for a
while.
“Yes,
Jeff, it is a nice trip.”
“Then
why aren’t you doing anything?” Jeff asked because John
looked bored.
Suddenly there was a loud sound. “Woah!
What was that, John?” exclaimed Jeff.
“It’s a leek, Jeff!” he replied.
“I just noticed it’s
not a leek, John! We crashed into rocks!” yelled Jeff. They had
not been paying attention while they were talking.
“Here,
John, get into swimming gear!” Jeff told John.
“That’s a great idea!” John said as he got into
swimming gear.
“Let’s go, John.” Jeff said when they were
ready.
“Yeah,
I think we should. There are rocks up ahead.” John said in a scared voice.
“Hey, John, there is a island up ahead.” Jeff told him to
encourage him to be brave.
“Yeah,
Jeff! Let’s swim to it!” John said excitedly.
After the boys had been swimming for a while
John panted, “This is hard, Jeff.”
“Yeah,
I know John.” Jeff agreed.
“We’re almost there.” John yelled when he saw how
close they were.
“We
are here, John!” exclaimed Jeff. All of a sudden Jeff couldn’t see John and yelled, “John,
where are you?”
“Right
here, Jeff,” John yelled from farther
down the beach.
“You
scared me, John!” said Jeff.
“Did
we really get to the right island, Jeff?”
John asked.
“We
really are here, John.” Jeff answered.
“OK,
Jeff. I believe you.”
“Now
let’s get to work on finding our
treasure,” Jeff told John.
“OK,
Jeff,” John answered and they began
looking for a spot to dig.
“Right
this way, John.”
“OK,
Jeff.”
The boys searched until they found a
clearing in the trees that looked interesting.
They began to dig.
“Hey,
Jeff! I found something!” yelled John.
“You
did, John! What is it?” Jeff exclaimed.
“I
think it is treasure!” John exclaimed.
“Woah! Treasure already?!” Jeff said, jumping up and down.
All of a sudden the boys found some of their
friends on the island too and decided to call them over. Together the new group needed to figure out a
way to get home. They realized that the
friends’ boat was big enough for all
of them plus the treasure. So they
started off for home. But on the way home the weather was not so nice. Soon there was another loud crash.
“Woah, Jeff! What was
that?” John yelled.
“I can’t believe we crashed into
rocks again!” Jeff was scared.
One of their friends yelled, “It’s ok guys. We’ve got a raft. Grab on!”
All of a sudden the group saw a new boat and yelled, “Help! Help us! Please help us!”
The men on the boat said, “Oh
no! There are boys out in the water they need our help. OK men we need to go! Go! GO!”
When they pulled up to the raft the boat captain saw it was his
son Jeff and his friend John. He asked, “Son what are you doing here?”
Jeff was cold and tired. “Just get us home, Dad. We
will tell you all about it when we get home.
Then we can show you the treasure.”
“Treasure!” his dad yelled. Then said, “I’m just happy you’re safe.”
And they got home in the morning.
