The last section of English for second grade was to write a research paper about an animal.  I picked the lemur since it is my favorite!

This is a picture of me watching lemurs at the Indianapolis Zoo 4 years ago.

Here are pictures mommy took of the lemurs there.  Aren't they cute animals?

Ring-Tailed Lemurs

Lemurs look cute, fluffy, and little.  They have black and white striped tails, gray bodies, sharp claws, black noses, and white faces.  They have large orange eyes.  They weigh 8 pounds.  Their body is about 18 inches long but their tails are 22 inches long.

Lemurs are omnivores.  They eat fruit, nuts, and leaves.  They also like sap, flowers, and insects.

Lemurs live in Africa.  They live on the island called Madagascar.  They like the tropical jungles and the dry forest.

Here are some more facts about lemurs.  Lemur means ghost in Latin.  A group of lemurs is called a troop.  It is an endangered species because the trees are being cut down.  They are very active during the day.  The noises they make are whistles, grunts, and meows.
